“Alright, alright” was his response, as he rolled out of bed.
Marsha was on this health kick and every weekend morning encourages her husband to take an early morning 4 mile walk with her. Sam was less than enthused and only took part to appease his wife.
Twenty minutes later they were out walking in the crisp fall air and Marsha was really enjoying the scenery. “I loved the fall!” She said aloud.
Sam didn’t respond. Sam’s pace was always much quicker than Marsha’s; but she never complained using it as an incentive to burn more calories. Sam just wanted to hurry home. Often Marsha would lag behind a few paces so that she could sprint to catch up with him. After the short sprint she would grab his hand and remember their courting days. The walk at their pace would usually take about one hour. This was always precious time to Marsha.
Today Marsha suspected that it would be much quicker because Sam was walking unusually fast. She had trouble keeping up with him, even when she sprinted.
I don’t know what’s wrong with him Lord; but I’m going to leave him in your hands” she said breathing heavily now more than twenty paces behind her husband. He finally turned to see where she was and she waved him on.
“I’ll catch up with you at home” she said loud enough for him to hear her.
He continued at the same pace. Marsha began to pray.
“Father, give my husband the strength to be the great man that you’ve made him, and whatever is on his mind this morning only you can fix it, so I believe it is done. In Jesus name; Amen”
No sooner than the words were out of her mouth Marsha could feel wetness like little beads of mist on her face. The sky opened and water began to drip like a persistently leaky faucet. The drip became a leak and the leak became like buckets being poured out; in a matter of moments. Marsha who hated anything other than picture perfect outdoors began to run in effort to hurry home. She soon caught up with Sam who was now strolling at a snails pace.
“Slow down!” he yelled as she passed him.
“What’s your hurry?”
“Are you crazy?” she responded “it’s pouring out here!” she said now completely soaked. “I know” Sam said extending his hand.
“Come walk with me” he said
Marsha reached her hand out and smiled remembering their courting days “okay” she said smiling.
“Thank you Lord” she whispered.
