“There’s no place like home…There’s no place like home.” Dorothy closed her eyes tightly, clicked the heels of her ruby red shoes, and made a wish to return to her home in Kansas. Viewers of all ages cheered her on; and the 1939 movie became a classic. Did the shoes hold an unseen power or was her faith the ticket home to Auntie Em? You decide.


I own a pair of red shoes much like the ones made famous in the Wizard of Oz, and get colorful comments nearly every time I don them. I happily go into my slapstick routine, click my heels and proclaim, “There’s no place like home!” What is the proper outfit to compliment ruby red shoes? Search your wardrobe and find a little red dress! Ladies, we listened to fashion consultants and designers who explained a basic black dress is essential to any wardrobe. Their expert advice contained pearls of wisdom about the dark color. Following their recommendation, we chose it as the unquestioned appropriate dress for business functions, elegant dinners, or funeral attire.


Make your own fashion statement; go on a shopping spree and discover basic red. Wear a splash of crimson or cherry and brighten up your day! You may be surprised to experience a mood swing in the direction of confidence and cheerfulness. Strangers greet you with smiles of approval; and you secretly feel like a celebrity walking up the rolled out red carpet. Why wait for Christmas or Valentines Day? Make any day a holiday; wear basic red!
