She smiles at the thought of the woman in the shops talking her down and looking upon her as a dirty creature. How many of they’re men visit her on a daily basis and pay for her company? But what this woman does not know is that she would trade places with them in a heartbeat just to be free again. Sadness overcame her as she know she will die in captivity, and all because of her father who sold her to the man she became to call the Devil. He stole her innocence at the tender age of only ten. And what did her father get; a bottle of rum.
This made her hard to the outside world; she constructed an iron wall around her heart.
At that same moment a young man was watching her as she walked and for the hundreds time he noticed the sadness on her face. He has prayed for her from the first moment her loveliness captured his attention. A thought accrued to him and with a determination in his step he walked to the Lucky Lady tavern across the street. The people popped there heads out to look ate Luke, as they all knew him and did not understand why he was walking to that place. One only went there in the cover of darkness.
When Luke entered the dark room he squinted his eyes to get use to the darkness. As his eyes came into focus he noticed that the mistress have came up to him.
“Can I help you?” she asked in a sweet voice trying to hide her shock at seeing him.
“Yes, I would like to buy Pearl from you.” He said in an even business tone, looking directly into the mistress eyes.
“That is not possible, she is my best girl and men pay lots of gold for her attention. But I am always willing to make you a deal that you can have her first every night for an ex amount.” Her tone cold and business like.
“ You do not understand madam, I want to take her away from here.”
She laughed at him, “What would you do with a woman like that?”
He did not answer her and just stared at her so that she became restless and unwilling to look at him.
“Alright, make your price.” She finally gave in after a few minutes.
“ What is her life worth to you madam?” Still keeping his eyes on her.
“Just give me what I paid for her a hundred gold pieces.”
He placed his hand into his trousers pocket and took out two bars of gold the equivalent of a Thousand coins.
“This will cover it”
As the deal is done Pearl wakes into the room followed by her bodyguard.
“Get your things you are going with this gentleman now. You are his property.”
Pearl looked at the man, he is still young and his eyes are a warm brown, she can feel that there is something different about this man.
With a soft voice she answered her ex-mistress, “I have what I own. This is the only dress that is mine and not yours. Sir we can go then.”
As they walked in to the light he took her hand in his and kissed the inside of her hand.
“ You are free now, but I ask you to stay with me and be my wife. I love you and God loves you He have heard your prayers and wants you to be happy now.”
She looked at him stunned. “But I have never prayed to God I am angry with Him for my life. He did not save me when I was ten why would He do it now?”
“It is not our place to ask why, we are placed on this earth for a purpose and if you would only let God in, you will find yours and understand the terrible things better. And God was with you throe it all, for you are still here stronger than ever.”
Tears started to role down her face and the Iron wall crumbled to reveal a soft and vulnerable heart. “How do I make God part of my live?”
He smiled “ I will teach you”
