James 1:23, 24 says - "Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."
I challenge you today to look in the mirror. Is your devotional time and the truths of the sermon from last Sunday's service reflecting back to you as action? Or is there a blank mirror staring back at you? Have you lost your reflection in a comfortable illusion of complacency?
Mirror, Mirror on the wall - Is your reflection none at all?
So many times we read a devotional, hear a sermon, listen to a song and our spirit is moved with a sense of conviction. But then the feeling fades. Our nice scheduled lives creep in. Satan breathes down our neck lies of inadequacy. Our reflection vanishes into a dismissed divine moment God intended us to have. God does not give us His word to merely read. He wants us to use it as a sword of action.
"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Hebrews 4:12
God wants to penetrate your soul with the power of His word. He wants to speak to you this Sunday at church. He wants to speak to you through your devotion and prayer time this week. He wants you to look in the mirror and see His likeness reflecting there.
What is your spiritual walk reflecting? Are you merely a listener or are you putting into action what God is telling you through His word.

How convicting is this? Great job. It might have been neat to see that phrase repeated at the end or a variation of it just to tie it all together, but that is a maybe. Possibly, "Mirror, Mirror on the wall--make His reflection known to all," or something like that. This is an excellent message for the topic, and I will remember it each time I look in the mirror. :)
