TITLE A FORETASTE OF HEAVEN
While walking the Palestine roads Jesus had many discourses with his disciples. They understood some of them but asked for explanations on others. The Lord was always ready to answer them and teach them eternal truths.
One day when Peter declared, “Thou art the Christ the Son of the Living God.” Jesus replied, “Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” Matt 16:16-18 (NASB)
“The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,” this is a well known hymn sung by Christians the world over. How privileged we are to belong to Jesus Christ through His precious blood and be a part of His church. I am not talking about a building or organization but the body of living believers who form the organisms. The church came into being on the day of Pentecost after the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples. The purpose of meeting together was to learn the apostles teachings, have fellowship, break bread and pray. (Acts of the Apostles 2:42,46&47 NASB)
Today when we look around and see dozens of church buildings and hear of many denominations, we are confused. Which church should I go to? Where will I get the undiluted teaching of the Word of God, the Christian fellowship, enjoy the worship service with breaking the bread and prayer? Before the Lord went to Gethsemane asked us to remember His death and resurrection whenever we meet. We have a choice to make and we need to do it prayerfully and wisely.
The church has elders and deacons who Shepard the flock and look after the administration of the church. Every Sunday morning it is a joy to attend our church. The fellowship of other believers really encourages me. During the remembrance time, it is so reviving to remember again His suffering and salvation. The Bible teaching challenges me to study more and mature as a Christian. The children get their share at the Sunday school. The church has outreach programs where the good news is spread. The church has groups that cater to the material needs of the members. There is a lot of sharing and caring.
Oh, it is grand to be a Christian and to be a member of the living body of Christ. We are in fact a representation of heaven on earth, when we worship our risen Savior and honor Him. Do you get a foretaste of Heaven when you go to church?

FYI--"shepherd" is the correct spelling...easy to remember if you keep in mind that it's a person who "herd"s the sheep.
Be careful with your spelling. "Shepherd" instead of "Shepard".
Good message.
