Topic: Desire (01/17/05)
Desire-a longing so deep that it consumes every part of you, an aching longing that exists apart from logic. It is part of the color of life. How lifeless and plain life would be without the bright reds and oranges, the deep purples and greens, the magnificent blues and violets of desire. Desire is motivation for action and it is an energy- giving source of hope.

What does God desire? “For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings,” (Hosea 6:6, NIV). When the Pharisees see Jesus and his disciples having dinner with tax collectors and “sinners” at Matthew’s house, they asked the disciples why Jesus was eating with these people. When Jesus heard this he said, “But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ (Matt. 9:13, NIV). The need to go and learn what truly being merciful is from the depths of our being is what God desires for each one of us.

Nice, but I would have rather seen a longer piece. This was too short to be effective.
