Are you a saint? Maybe you are not a saint right now, but someday you might be one! Mother Teresa of Calcutta never looked upon herself as a special person, but many people throughout the world certainly considered her a saint. God blessed her in abundance. From those graces flowed a river of love, which she poured out on everyone she met. One of her most beautiful statements reads as follows, “Good works are links that form a chain of love.”
If we each perform one good work, such as a smile, a kind word or lend a helping hand, imagine the ripple effect it would have in so many lives. If we all cared enough to do this, imagine how the world would change. Wars, terrorism and hatred would be replaced with peace, love and understanding. Harmony would flow among all people. Mother Teresa’s life and love had a ripple effect that caused her order, the Missionaries of Charity, to flourish and grow in numerous countries.
The sooner we each take time to smile at the stranger we pass in the street, the better. The sooner we say a kind word to a family member, the better. The sooner we lend a helping hand to our neighbor - those people we meet during the course of our day - the better. Let your love cascade over and around family and friends. You can enrich the life of someone else; you can create a positive “ripple effect” by your actions. Life is short - the sooner we start, the better.
