As parents part of our job is to prepare our children for life out there in the big wide world. Everything from being neat and organized to suffering a broken heart is applicable when using that phrase.
When I use that age old adage I’m reminding my children that the world doesn’t revolve around them. Even as adults we can sometimes behave as though life ought to be going a certain way because, well, this is about us. It’s our life, right? Actually, if you can grasp a fragment of the big picture, the one only God can see completely, you will notice that you are but a speck. This brings to mind those big pictures, composed of many very small photos, arranged in color and composition to create a very large image. Upon looking closely one can make out each of the intricately arranged photos, very distinct from the others. So, although you and I are part of it, it is not an image of us.
So often we, as true believers, hear that it’s not what happens to us, but it’s how we respond, that matters. Understanding that life will be full of difficulties, hardships and heartache is essential to surviving to the end, faith intact. Whether the unpleasant things our children must suffer are self inflicted or not, it is important that they understand they were not created for their own benefit. Looking beyond themselves will enable them to see more clearly the big picture and how their place in it can make a difference.
When our children step out from under our instruction and protection they should be prepared to worship, serve and live life for Who they were created for, in His image, because, “That’s Life!”

Impressive, the way you wrap up your point in a few well-worded paragraphs--a gift I might envy! (One small suggestion: for ease of online readers, you'll want to separate paragraphs with a space.)
Very enjoyable read!
