Just look in the Bible, lets say in the New Testament, and pick out a very humble person, who was superior to those around Him, lets say Peter for example. Now we all know how humble, meek, and lowly this man was, oh I admit He was on occasion a little brash, or out spoken, but here again I am sure with His superior intellect, and subdued personality it was quite difficult for Him to speak out as He did. I am sure that even with His unselfish nature, when the question arose as to who would be greatest in the Kingdom, poor old Peter already knew that it was He, how could He not speak the plain and simple truth, after all who else could it be? When the Lord walked out on the Sea of Galilee, was it not this humble fisherman, who had to be begged to jump out of the boat and walk on the water with the Lord? And again when Christ asked His disciples “Who they said that He was,” it was poor meek Peter, who answered only after the rest remained silent. And yes just a few short minutes later, after His Master stated that He, Christ, must suffer and die. It was again poor, meek Peter who suffered the rebuke of our Lord, who even called Him Satan, for simply stating what the humble fisherman knew must be a mistake in His Lord’s thinking.
Just like my hero Peter, I too am willing to forgive all of you here at “ Christian Writer’s” for not realizing the true greatness that is among you. Although I would humbly accept any honor that you might choose to bestow upon me, I can truly say that I really do not expect to win this challenge. Not that anything I might choose to write on the subject would not exceed the rest of your endeavors, but alas it seems you have managed to pick a topic that I know nothing about, “ Selfishness.”
