Crossword puzzles’ incomplete; too many blank spaces.
I dial the number. Long Beeep!
Pacing to and fro on checked floor
White shirt, black pants; few freckles
Beeep! That long, patient Beeep!
Makes heartbeat seem audible.
All I need is hear "Hello?"
No Hello! Nothing. Just Beeep!
Looking down at floor carpeting
Illusion of blanks in the deep
Same illusion forming in the Beeep!
Funny how one shoe lace is untied.
Bend over, step on box beside?
Awaiting answer, touching bald head
Pacing over spaces and shaded boxes
Lace untied, crossword to finish
Beeep! Tells me she needs her space.
It pains to hear no answer, no yes, no- no. No nothing!
Unknown to me I wonder
What mischief cut me off this way
To treasured confidant I owe
More than money to make it right
O help me, Ancient Of Days
I know not how to get it right
Too many blank spaces
Help me to fill the missing links
You made nothing out of nothing.
