Jesus was invited to dine with those that were the holiest when it came to the “Law and religion”. When Jesus arrived, a woman that was of the lowest of position, a sinner with a huge debt came to his feet.
She had heard about the dinner and rushed to the place where Jesus would be, in need of a Saviour. In need of forgiveness and mercy, she came and knelt by her Lord.
She then went to the feet of our Saviour and wept over his feet, in love she wiped her tears with her hair, repenting for her sins and pouring out herself as a drink offering to the King.
She understood how great her debt was, she was clearly aware that she was dead inside from all that she went through. Therefore she wept for salvation and poured her love onto the only One that could give that to her.
I have been that woman. In a world with lust, greed, and envy it’s so easy to get lost. To fall into the cyclone of the world’s treachery. Dragged down by darkness to a weakened state of death. Reduced to being a slave to sin.
Jesus freed me from a debt that was so outrageous, when I look back on the wretched person I was, I can’t begin to understand with my mind, the mercy and forgiveness of the Father's heart.
However I do feel it everyday as I weep in prayer , as I cry every morning at the beauty of my saviours love.
No one in the world loves me like Jesus.
Just like this woman I was bankrupt to sin, I had cashed in all of my worldly chips to try and get ahead and be “Somebody in the world” and it left me dead, empty and lost.
But one day Jesus came, and he offered me his hand of salvation.
The moment that he offered it to me, I got on my knees just like the woman in this story, and I wept at the love of Christ. I wept at how I was so undeserving, and just like her I poured myself out onto the feet of my saviour and pledged my life to him. In total surrender I handed over my life, whatever he asks of me from now and forever more, I will do until my last breath.
When you have such an outstanding debt and forgiven much, you become filled with love so great , and to be overflowing with hope. That no matter how horrific the things you did were, Jesus loves you and died for the purpose of forgiveness. There is no debt to great in sin that can not be forgiven, heaven went bankrupt when God GAVE His only son for us.
I weep for those that still have the debts of sin. The unsaved, the children that haven’t come to the feet of Christ.
I weep for those that don't know that freedom is even an option. My greatest prayer is that the body would start looking for those that are bankrupt in sin, and let them know that their sins have already been paid for by the blood, and that they can be free in Christ Jesus.
