"Yes," replied the second one. "And then I put her down. It appears that you are still carrying her."
This second monk's reply reminds me that I may at times carry interior heaviness or baggage that could, with a good puff of intentional release, be let go. Irritation at an inconvenience, impatience, anger after a perceived slight, worry over things I can do nothing about, judgements about others, even negative self-judgements.
What keeps me awake at night? What do I brood over? What do I harbor in my heart that troubles the waters of my imagination and concern, robbing me of interior peace? What am I carrying that the Lord might invite me to put down, to release? Maybe it is time to identify those things, and give them a good puff out and away. I'll do it. Lord. Help me. Here goes ...
