When you enter the end of your road
And are asked to reflect your journey
What will you say ~ truth be told
As your life unveils the story
Did you truly love, from within your heart
Acceptance beyond skin-deep
Or, prejudge ~ right from the start
Whom I chose to keep
Did you look for joy in little things
Contentment to satisfy
Or, strive for what the world could bring
Life ~ a temporary high
Did you work at peace amongst your foes
Praying your part
Or, condemn them to further lows
Destroying what I started
Did you wait patiently for Me to move
Your heart be still
Or, plow your path ~ set off to prove
By-passing what I willed
Did you open the door to strangers
Helping them in need
Or, feel you could be endangered
Wasting My opportunity
Did you discern between right and wrong
Desiring to be true
Or, portion your soul to still “belong”
A game of pick and choose
Did you really believe in My power
Working all for good
Or, did your faith grow cold and cower
Disbelief beyond the could
Did you take care to nurture My sheep
Restoring them to life
Or, ignore issues ~ your reputation to keep
Stifling oppressive cries
Did you exercise self-control
Restraining your former ways
Or, do anything to achieve your goal
Focusing only on today
You see, I granted fruit of My spirit
Nourishment for your weary road
My flame of love burned brightly lit
Beyond your highs and lows
I’ve been with you always ~ you can see
Shining light upon your road
As you looked to My promised land ~ eternity
You could trust me in life’s unknowns
So here we meet ~ at the end of your duty
Your work on earth has ceased
You devoted your life ~ all glory to Me
In you I've been well-pleased
