Eyes straining sought to see
Some movement from the far off hill,
Some fresh activity.
And whilst the doubts within her roared,
She touched and held the scarlet cord.
Strong walls of mighty stalwart stance
Could not keep out the woe
Of the terrified inhabitants
Of quaking Jericho.
But where despair was spread abroad
She focussed on the scarlet cord.
The steady tread of marching feet,
The eerie trumpet blast,
The march that heralded defeat
Soon waiting would be past.
Depending now on God the Lord
She trusted in the scarlet cord.
And there, she gathered to her side
Loved ones for whom she cared.
Her family joined her as she cried
So they too might be spared.
Safe and secured, for she’d implored
They shelter ‘neath the scarlet cord.
Tumultuous, thunderous, crashing roar,
The walls came tumbling down.
The mighty city was no more,
No stone lay upon stone.
Just one escape from wrath outpoured:
T’was God’s provision – the scarlet cord.
And all who’d safely gathered there
Were taken by the hand
And guided faithfully to where
They’d rest in God’s own land.
They worshipped Him, their King, their Lord,
Who’d saved them by the scarlet cord.
Lord, when my doubts begin to rise
With overwhelming care
And listening to the tempter’s lies
I head towards despair.
Lord. Draw me back to Calvary
To where your blood was shed for me.
Once more, upon the cross to gaze
In full dependency.
Again my heart is filled with praise
To know You died for me.
The truth applied and understood:
Your precious, scarlet, crimson, blood.
Wonderful shelter, there to rest,
Eternally secure.
E’en though with a thin thread of trust
I learn to depend more.
To You be glory, all adored,
Saved by Your blood, our scarlet cord.

The Lord had given me something a while back that was about forgiveness and though the setting was different He spoke to me about the precious scarlet thread, thus came into writing,"A Spool of Scarlet Thread."
Praise the Lord for his mercy and for giving us His forgiveness and His salvation through the blood. Congratulations on your well deserved win! Tremendous.
