I once caught a butterfly
When I was a child
I wanted to keep it but I could not
Its life was in the wild.
I once received a bouquet
Of flowers from a friend,
Every time I passed them
I admired them again.
Breathtaking babes
of earth water and sun
each day they fade a small heartbreak
till too soon they were gone.
I remember sunsets
Past friendships I miss,
I reminisce of childhood joys
And love’s first precious kiss
Robert Frost once wrote a poem
Called “Nothing Gold Can Stay”
It seems that every day
We say goodbye to gold.
The most beautiful things in life are God’s
And are not ours to hold.
Like dreams after we sleep
Life water slowly seeps
Like passing time that slips away
Only changes stay.
But if we die do we live again?
The promises of God say Yes and Amen.
Made alive in Christ we’ll rise as one
So
we let go
and wait
For our change to come.
