on a cold winter's night
fulfilling a promise
he'd bring forth the light.
Not born in a mansion
or a house of some sought
Mary humbly bore him
in the place she was brought
He grew to a child
enjoyed the same things
that childhood memories to all of us brings
Into his teens the young boy had grown
then into adulthood His message was known
That he was the prohpet John spoke about
The one who would save us from darkness and doubt.
He was the promise that God had fulfilled
that sin would be conquered
so life be instilled.
But many rejected the message he spread
yet they witnessed his power rasing dead from their bed.
They saw how he caused
the blind man to see
and when was rejected still loved faithfully.
Betrayed by His friend
he did not show hate
but continued his journey
that determined our fate
They mocked Him
They wiped Him
He was in anguish and pain
But he thought of our needs
And bore all the shame
Then once they had led Him to Calvary
he was nailed to the cross
that he carried for me
He knew what it was
to feel he's forsaken
He did it for love
though His heart had been aching
And when He was dead
in a Tomb they had placed Him
His haters were thinking
from this earth they'd erase Him.
But three days later
the stone rolled away
and He is alive
who they buried that day.
He decended to heaven
as He promised he would
Yet lives in my heart
And gives all that is good
And though some may recall Him
as figure in history
to some he's a story
to other's a mystery
Yet I know that He is
all He says that He is
He lives in my heart
Where he says he would live
He walks with me daily
through good times and bad
He never forsakes me
when I'm angry or sad
And if I feel fogotten
I remember that day
That he continued to Calvary
And did not turn away
If ever he'd forsake me
it would have been then
But he didn't
He still loves me
and that's the message I send.
