“Wake up my princess. Today’s our day. Wake up. I love you!”
“Oh, what time is it?” Ashley asks groggily. Mornings were not Ashley’s strength. “I love you too,” she added.
“It’s time. Today is our big day, the day we’ve both been yearning for, for quite some time now. I’m so excited.”
Ashley mulls this over in her mind with slight feelings of anxiety about the dialogue that just took place. She feels ill prepared for this day.
“I’m awake, my love. I just didn’t believe this day would arrive so rapidly. Jack on T.V. seems so wound up every week telling us you’ll be coming soon, but I honestly didn’t think it would be today. My emotions inside are a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happy that I finally get to be with you without the interruption of the world! Sad because I don’t feel like I’ve had enough time or the impact that I should have had on my non-Christian family and friends. There is still a great deal more I need share.”
“Shush now, no more of that pessimistic talk. You have accomplished I meant for you to accomplish. You are my vessel in which I am pleased. The rest is up to me. You may not be able to see it with your earthly eyes but just wait and soon enough you’ll see the proof of your obedience.”
He takes Ashley in his hands, lures her out of bed, bends down on one knee and says “we’ve both been waiting to be together for a very long time. You are ready my precious. You are ready! I am ready. This is our day. Come, come be with me forever.
“My love, Wait!” Ashley suddenly says, “I need to change. I need to wear something beautiful; something more appropriate and I don’t have anything.”
“You’ve been clothed in this beautiful rob that’s been hand made just for you for this time. It has been washed, therefore it is spotless! The color is pure and the design intricate yet simple. Just like you my dear. Now put on your crown.” He hands her a crown full of dazzling, precious jewels, more beautiful than the human eye has ever seen.
Ashley is in shock and amazed. “That’s mine? There must be a mistake!” Ashley is almost in tears
“My princess, no, this is no mistake. Do not cry! Your offering is my offering. Please accept? I bet you didn’t think your crown would be exploding with such brilliance! I will explain the details later. Just put it on and come.”
Ashley stutters, “But, but, what about my husband, my son? Do they know where I’m going?”
“What do you think, Ashley? Did they not see you walk out your love for me? Yes, they did! Of course they did! They know where you’re going. It’ll be ok. Trust me, like you’ve done many times before. Trust me Ash, its ok. My angels have been sent for peace and strength. They are well taken care of. You know that.”
“Oh, how I love you Lord and how I long to be with you,” Ashley cries. “I am ready! I accept your hand. Take me away. Take me to that place you’ve been telling me about. To your kingdom, the place I’ve been imagining for years. Oh my love, I hear music, beautiful music! I think it’s our song.”
“Yes it is Ashley. May I have this dance?”
Ashley sighs, “I thought you’d never ask.”
The long steady beep of the life-support machine that had kept Ashley’s body medically alive was the evidence to prove that her journey here on earth had been completed. Her body lay at peace while her friends and family pondered if she did indeed go where she believed she was going.
