Once there was a man born in a place where no child should be born. No one was there to celebrate his birth, no family to rejoice over this tiny bundle. All the people rushing by did not even notice nor did they care. All were too busy with their own lives to stop and look upon the most beautiful birth ever. No one cared. Wait! What is that? What is that sound? It is the sound of a multitude of angels singing with joy over his birth. Such beautiful music, no man has ever heard. They were singing “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Once there was a man who was without sin. No kinder nor compassionate man has ever walked this earth, a great man that healed the sick and gave comfort to the hurting. He had done nothing wrong this man only give love and kindness and for this he received evil for his goodness. For his kindness they spit on him and beat him. Thirty-eight, thirty-nine, lash after lash he received, yet not a word did this man utter. Even his friends forsook him. No one cared. Wait! What is that sound, is it music? No, a multitude of people screaming, people he had healed and loved were there. What is it they are screaming? Crucify him, crucify him! Why? This man has done nothing wrong!
Once there was a man that was led to a hill called Golgotha. He was laid on a cross, a nail was driven into his hand, the other hand was stretched out and another nail was driven into that hand. A nail was driven into his feet and then the cross was raised. He says that he must die so that mankind may live. This man, so full of love for all men, was now hung to a cross. Such evil! The people sang and rejoiced at the foot of this cross. They laughed and made fun of him, calling him King of the Jews. “Come down form that cross if you are a king, ” they continued to torment. This man replied, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.” Wait! Why do you not come down? You truly are the Son of God. You do not have to stay on that cross! Yet he stayed. Why? He stayed for me and for all mankind. Love kept him on the cross.
Once there was a man who died that all mankind might be set free. He chose to stay on the cross so that man could live. Suddenly the skies turned black in the middle of the day. There was no light. The light of this world just died on that cross. People were screaming and crying as they ran in confusion. Truly this man was the son of God they all acknowledged, but it was too late. All the music and rejoicing ceased. “Wait! We are sorry,” they screamed. Alas there was only silence in the darkness. The light was gone. Such sadness and confusion!
Now there is a man who once was dead but now he lives. Because he lives, once more there is light in this world. Hearts sing with joy. Music is all around. Because he lives, man kind can live forever. Man no longer has to be afraid of the darkness nor does he have to stay in the darkness. Man only has to choose the light to live. Wait! Who is this man that gives life-giving light? This man is Jesus, the son of God. My Savior!
