The ladies knit or chrochet shwals for the sick, new mothers, and anyone who is lonely. They pray especially for the person they are doing the shawl for. A card is added when it's finished, telling the person that it was made just for them, and that every sticth is a prayer in their name.
We didn't know how this would be recieved , but we were surprised beyond our wildest dreams. The thank you notes we got just blew us away.
Here are a few:
From a fourteen year old girl in Maine, suffering from cancer says, "I was so touched that you thought of me. The shawl is so lovely and in just my colors. I am taking it to the hospital when I have surgery next week. The doctor is letting me put it under my pillow during the operation."
Another note from a paraplegic in Massachusetts reads, "When I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself, I get out the shawl and know there are people who care enough to pray for me."
This note is from a college girl in Ohio going through chemo-theraphy. "It is amazing that people I don't even know have touched my life with prayer."
These shawls made by the ladies hands, and the prayers spoken or unspoken go straight to the heart of those who recieve them. They are crafted with love and bless not only the reciever but also the hands that make them.
