I woke up later feeling exhausted wishing for any excuse to not go into work today but I mustered up enough energy to shower and get dressed. My children started waking up so I began getting them dressed fed and ready for school. While feeding them I suddenly realize that I was suppose to bring a salad to work. I started rushing the kids around so we could get to Wal-mart in time so I could get a bag of frozen fruit salad.
With much pushing and shoving I managed to get my 4 year old and 18 month old buckled up and in their seats and off we sped to Wal-mart. I got there 20 minutes before I needed to be at work - just enough time to make it all happen. I went to get my son the 18 month old, out of the car only to find that there was a strange drainage coming out of his right ear. I sighed and said out loud, “Maybe I should just go home.” I’m baffled. What should I do? I shrug it off and think why stop the momentum? I ran into Wal-mart with the 18 month old on my hips 4 year old grabbing on to my shirt. I found the frozen fruit salad, and headed for the checkout. All the while my daughter is asking why we are buying the salad and doesn’t like my answer that we I are buying it for other people. The checkout lady at Wal-mart comments on how it looks like I have my hands full I agree and race to the car.
We had 10 minutes to go I just needed to drop of the kiddos in the childcare and get to my desk. As I am driving I am wondering, “Why I am doing this? There must be a better way.” Whew!
I took my son to his class and explained that he was having some drainage out of his ear but he didn’t have a temperature and I was going to call his Doctor. They looked at me like I was an alien dropping him off from outer space (or maybe that is just how I felt). I got my daughter to her class and ran upstairs to my office.
I got to the office and poured the fruit salad in a bowl to begin defrosting so it would be ready for the luncheon I was attending that day. I sat down took a deep breath and began my usual Friday work duties. A few minutes later, I somehow pushed over the bowl of fruit and all of the fruit fell to the ground. It was no longer useful for the lunch. I was about in tears. My boss asked me are you laughing or crying I said both.
Before 9:30 that morning, my son’s teachers had brought him up to show me how bad the drainage was at least twice. Luckily, I was able to get my son in the Doctor right away. I felt like the world’s best mom! We headed over to see the Doctor, but had to wait at the Doctor’s office for a half an hour. The doctor checked my son’s ears only toe tell me what I already thought to be true – he had a lot of drainage in his right ear and he needed ear drops. She wrote a prescription for the ear drops, so I ran to the pharmacy near my house (on the other side of town from work) to drop off the prescription. I stopped at home to pick up some Tylenol to find that I had a half of a bottle of the same ear drops in my cupboard.
If I would have just stayed home I would have found the ear drops right away and avoided the entire stressful morning. About the luncheon – I didn’t make it but I did get some food from others that attended, and it was good and they didn’t even miss my salad.

This is a very good personal experience story. It just needs a little polishing with punctuation to separate out some of the long sentences, but it's a fine entry. Kudos to you and keep writing!
