Maybe we can help each other out this week! I will post three links to publishers/publications that I’ve had success with in the past. Places I’ve had my work published and would recommend to you. Places I encourage you to consider submitting your work to.
Then it’s your turn. In the comments, list three places you would recommend to others. If possible, include a link to the writer’s guidelines. Let’s get a huge list of potential markets to give us plenty of options and motivation to get our work out there.
Don’t forget…if you’re work gets accepted, let me know so I can post it in the Member Shoutouts!
My three recommendations:
- LIVE - I’ve had a few of my previous Challenge entries published or soon-to-be-published by this Sunday School take-home paper owned and operated by Assemblies of God. They do publish non-fiction, “hot-to” and based-on-a-true-story pieces, but I’ve had success with fiction. Click on the link and scroll down for LIVE guidelines.
- BLUE MOUNTAIN ARTS - If you write sentimental greetings, this is a great company to write for. I’ve had a few cards accepted by Blue Mountain Arts and I have to say, the pay is high, compared to most greeting card companies! Check it out.
- CHRISTIAN HOME & SCHOOL - This is a print magazine published specifically for parents who send their children to Christian schools. But there is plenty of content relevant for any Christian. The people at CH&S are wonderful to work with and response time is quick. Pay’s not bad, either.
Please let me know if you decide to submit to any of the companies I’ve recommended. Looking forward to your suggestions!

Thanks, Lynda! I’ll have to check these out.
I would like to suggest to faithwriters would it not be possible as there are a number of us who are in the position of being unemployed but who love to write about our God, believes and faith… I can see why membership fees and sponsors are important for the site… but i also feel that maybe there could be a Bronze or a Silver membership awarded to those who struggling for didn’t God say Let all his children come Kind regards Karen
Karen,
The Silver membership is completely free and includes the ability to post your articles on the FaithWriters site for others to read and comment on. We also have many members who are sponsored by other members. Participating on the message boards increases your chances of someone stepping up to sponsor you as a Gold or Platinum member. It’s not guaranteed, of course, but FaithWriters members are extremely generous, as many sponsored members can attest.
In the meantime, I hope you will take advantage of the free features that FaithWriters offers to Silver members.
Thanks for posting these, Lynda! I put two of them on my list to investigate.
Since I’m new to freelancing, I only have one site to recommend. It’s http://www.constant-content.com I’ve sold one article through them (only have two on there) and they are legit, but lots of pros and cons. Read over their guidelines carefully and check out their community forums.
Thanks again, Lynda!
I’d like to back-up what Karen said (March 13th). I was so excited to find this site and then to be able to enter a fun writing contest to sharpen my skills with like minded writers was icing on the cake. I immediately set out to write a story to enter for “Eek” that even my 14 year old son liked. But when I clicked the enter button of course it directed me to the “pay-up page”. I too see the necessity of charging a membership fee to cover the costs of running a site like this, however, I would like to see another, lower, membership fee for us more “frugal” not to mention, beginner, types. I am not unappreciative of the Silver membership benefits. I also appreciate this thread, “three recommended places…” Very helpful, thanks.
Leanne,
The Writing Challenge was free for a very long time. It was only recently that we implemented the Level Program and made the Challenge a paid perk. This decision was not made lightly, but was necessary due to FaithWriters’ financial situation. Because of the current economic conditions, financial support (the FaithWriters 500) had been dwindling while membership continued to increase. Something had to be done. The good news is that at $6.95 per month, the Gold membership is more affordable than the Platinum membership, offering an affordable option to those who can’t quite swing the monthly $10. Thanks for letting us know your thoughts. And glad you’re enjoying the blog!
