Encouragement
To have too high of a self-image is a sin, but to have too low of a self-image is also sin.
Genesis 1:26-27 says that we were created by God.
Psalms 8 says that we were created a little lower than the angels.
"Do not think of yourself more highly than you should." (Romans 12:3)
"It is God Who works in us, both to will and to do His good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13)
During the terrible days of World War II when the bombing of London was at its peak, there was a little boy all alone in a bomb shelter. A pastor began talking with the little boy and asked him 'who he was and to whom did he belong'.
The little boy replied, "Mister, I ain't nobody's nothin'".
Many are hurt by low self-images and that can lead to a pessimistic view of life.
Here are some actual stated views of life:
~Life is a joke that isn't funny.
~Life is a dead-end street with no exit.
~Life is a life-sentence that we get for being born.
~Life is a disease for which the only cure is death.
The poet said:
"Some men die by shrapnel and some go down in flames,
but most men perish inch-by-inch who play at little games."
There is a better way! Nobodies can become somebodies.
Ethel Waters said, "Honey, God don't sponsor no flops".
NOBODIES BECOME SOMEBODIES WHEN THEY LET THE LORD BE LORD.
(I Cor. 2:14-3:4)
~The natural man must let the Lord be Lord (vs.14)
~The spiritual man has let the Lord be Lord (vs.15-16)
~The carnal man has let self get back on the throne (3:1-4)
NOBODIES BECOME SOMEBODIES WHEN THEY ARE LABORERS TOGETHER WITH GOD. (I Cor. 3:5-15)
~We are ministers (vs. 5)
~We are to plant, water and harvest under the direction of the Lord (vs. 6-7)
~We are accountable to God (vs 8-9: 4: 1-2)
~His grace will be sufficient (vs. 10)
~He is the foundation for our world (vs. 11)
~Love is the motive for our labors and the glory of God must be the results.
What we do must NOT be done in the weakness of the flesh...
but by the strength of the Holy Spirit (vs 12-15)
NOBODIES BECOME SOMEBODIES WHEN THE LIFE WE LIVE IS THE HOLY SPIRIT USING OUR BODIES AS HIS TEMPLE. (1 Cor 3:16-23)
~Do you know this? (vs. 16)
~Fear God and serve Him (vs. 17)
~Seek the wisdom of God more than the wisdom of man (vs. 18-20)
~Remember 'whose' you are! (vs. 21-23)
It is a great day when we realize these three L's:
~Lord
~Laborer
~Life.
It is a great day when we realize that:
~We were created by God
~Christ died for us
~There is tremendous potential in each of us!
Zacheus felt like a nobody until he realized that Christ:
~Knew him, but loved him anyway
~Was willing to save him
~Wanted to use him.
God wanted and needed Zacheus
and
He wants and needs YOU!

This is a great article. My Preacher preached on this very subject today! He said that God does need us and that should let us know how very much he loves us. We are of great value in God's heart. After all, He gave us His only begotten Son. And He needs our faithfulness to continue His work here on earth. Thanks for the reminder - (maybe I needed it since I've heard it twice today:) Love you both in Christ,
Julia
