Illness
How It Feels...From My Heart
It feels great to be
Young and vibrant
To work at a job you enjoy
And are able to do
And take part in
Many different things
Life is good you think
And it is...but
If you live to be older
By then, you will have lost
Many loved ones and friends
From moving place to place
Or worst...to death
I have a special cousin
Who is my best friend
She lives in Mississippi
And has always been
My writing mentor
She has her own health problems, yet
She makes time for me repeatedly
I live in another state
But life has a way
Of keeping loved ones in touch
I’m writing this poem because
I’m in pain, from my left hip down
And I’m praying it’s not cancer again
Just old “Arthur”
I pray every day...to live
I feel guilty at times
Especially when
There are thousands who die
In earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.
But in my heart I feel
That I am still needed here
When I get my strength built up
I drive my Metro out
And help many relatives
So at the end of this poem
Maybe
I have discovered why
I...pray to live.

Martha,It occurs to me you are not alone and while you struggle with your own sorrow and grief, you are helping those who aren't able to find expression in their own such struggles. I see you still working to help others and maybe not being able to realize God is using you. How wonderful that He does. I use to envy an aunt who when she had lost a dear one went right on cooking and cleaning, making sure everybody had a place to bed down at night when her house was to overflowing. Finally, I told her how much I wished I could be like her and she said,"Oh no honey,oh you don't really want to be like me! I am frozen. I can't speak about it. I wish I could grieve openly with my sorrow!" What a wonderful piece of wisdom she shared with me.Keep up your good working for the Lord. You are His voice. Love, Bertie
Very moving article and thanks for a giving Spirit! God bless you, judy
