Testimonies
As tears fell, I finished my Challenge piece and hit submit. It was no coincidence the topic for the week was "sad". God had placed a roadblock in front of me. It was time to choose a direction: devote my time to writing or a church ministry? The reviews for my entry trickled in and FaithWriters friends provided solace and prayers on the message boards. Through sleepy eyes on Thursday morning I checked the results. I gasped. First place in the Intermediate category! Hesitantly, I checked the Editor's Choice list. First place. I cried happy tears. God had clearly shown me He wanted me to pursue writing.
Many people say they stumbled across FaithWriters while online. I believe God held my hand and led me directly to this site last year. Since then, I have been blessed many times by FaithWriters.
For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed writing, and over the years have considered pursuing becoming published. Life took over, though. I found a job and placed my dream on a shelf to collect dust.
Then, in April, 2007, a friend of a friend invited me to a local writer's conference which reignited my passion for words. While searching online for places to submit my writing, I found FaithWriters. I spent time reading winning Challenge entries before nervously submitting my first piece. Once I entered the challenge, I was hooked. After that, I found the message boards and was welcomed into a family of writers. Within weeks, I knew I needed to give back to the site and I joined the FW 500.
The 500 benefit I enjoy the most is having access to Glenn's weekly writing articles. Through his wisdom and knowledge about writing, I have learned more about the craft and discipline of writing. Recently I had a question gnawing in my mind. Glenn answered it thoroughly and succinctly, giving me the confidence I needed to continue writing.
Through the Writing Challenge, I have grown as a writer. I never thought I could write science fiction. But through the advice and suggestions on the message boards, I managed to submit two science fiction pieces that have been well received. Praise, encouragement, and constructive feedback from other writers are all worth far more than the cost of joining the FW 500. FaithWriters has been a blessing and I am grateful to be part of this amazing community of writers.
If you have been blessed in any way by FaithWriters, please consider joining the FW 500. For pennies a day, you can receive all this site has to offer writers.
