A Drink Offering Poured Out Unto The Lord
2 Samuel 23:15-16 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, which is by the gate! And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.
Ezekiel 43:1-2 Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: (“...at the revelation of Jesus Christ”... “I AM the door”... “My sheep hear My voice”) And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.
Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
Matthew 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
I am not led as a horse with blinders to stagnant waters, but by my Guide, the Light Unto My Path, the Spirit of God. Even if, but for a season, I may be left to my own devices for the purpose of teaching me, truly, that I am nothing without Him.
As the truth behind my own weaknesses is revealed to me in gentleness and mercy, so as not to further bruise the tender reed that IS me, (a bruised reed He will not break) I kneel down before the King of Kings, the Holy One, and I am overcome with sorrow, a godly sorrow that leads to holiness.
The blinders fall down around me. And I walk away from stagnant waters and bread that will never satisfy my soul.
The River of Life flowing down from the Throne of Grace and through the Doorway in which I stand (at the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Doorway, the Rock on which I stand) floods my soul in mercy, further humbling me before my God.
A new day, a precious gift -- more than just a drink of cool water from a compassionate soul, I sip slowly, though eagerly from the River, from Water drawn by His own hand and suddenly, I am full, overflowing.
The River rises, a trickling brook for a moment, until I acknowledge where it is that I am... standing in this Doorway... standing before the Door... in the presence of the Most High, and give thanks, praising Him, not for what He has done, but for who He IS.
It is a choice (free will) to walk away from stagnant waters, a choice He honors with a River so deep, so clean, so clear and pure, the Life-Giving, Healing, Soul-Satisfying River of Grace deep enough to swim in and perfectly quenching in drink.
I choose Life (Choose this day whom you will serve.) as both Life and death are again (as they are so many times) set before me. (Yet, I did not find Him. He found me.)
I am reminded that God is faithful and does not, and will not break the covenant He made with me, regardless of my shortcomings, that once being called a signet, a signet I would remain.
I choose to walk away from stagnant waters, humbly confessing my human frailties and need for the Redeemer of My Soul.
And here, in the River, there is a voice. His voice is that of many rushing waters. And He soothes me with a still, small voice -- a word of promise based upon the Word which is both the Beginning and the End, the First Word and the Last:
My child, you are Mine own, the blessed work of My hands, neither left nor forsaken. Because you humble yourself before Me, I call you healed. I call you clean. I call you LOOSED. This day, you are not at all overtaken by sins common to man, though I may have allowed it for a season. Rather, you have been overtaken by Me. Walk ye in the Spirit and not in the flesh, keeping your eyes firmly set upon Me. Once you turned yourself by your own will, going wherever you would. But you are no longer a child and today you will be girded by Me when you gird thyself in My righteousness. I will lead you into places you would not have gone before and you will leave behind you a mark, the mark of My signet ring. Wherever you say, “Peace be with you,” there shall be peace. And when you speak My Word, it will not return to Me void. It will be established even as you speak. Rise and walk humbly before your God in the path I set before you. Truly blessed is that path. And truly blessed is the work of My hands.
Exodus 8:20 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
John 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
Acts 12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
