Blessings
What dose the Bible tell us about blessings and how do we get blessed. Look at Deuteronomy 28:1-9 with me to see what the Bible tells us about blessings.
Deuteronomy 28:1-9
And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comets in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before the seven ways. The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall belss thee in the land which the Lord thy God give thee. The Lord shall establish the holy people unto himself as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandment of the Lord they God, and walk in his ways. And all the people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and thy shall be afraid of thee. And all the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of the ground, in the land which the Lord swore unto thy fathers to give thee.
First thing that God said he would do if we hearken unto his voice:
1.Set thee on high above all nations of the earth.
2.The blessings shall come on thee and over take thee.
3. Blessed in the city and in the field
4.Blessed in the basket
5.Blessed in the store
6. Blessed coming in
7. Blessed going out
8. God will cause our enemies that rise against us to be smitten before our face.
9. Blessed in the storehouses
10. Blessed in all that we put our hands unto
11. Blessed our land which God gave us.
12.He will make us plenteous in goods, in the fruit of the body, in the furit of the cattle, and in the fruit of the ground.
The list above are things God will bless us with but we have to walk in obedience to him and his word. We can not walk in unforgiveness if we want to be blessed by God. He still will answers us but it may take awhile to get the answer. So, walking in blessings is better than walking out of his blessing.
Psalm 128: 1&4
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord that walketh in his ways. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.
Blessed [barkah] to bend the knee praise, to be blessed, to pray to invoke.
Genesis 22:17
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is upon the seashore and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.
Psalm 121:8
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.
Blessing [berakhah] favor, peace, a happy, or present to gain goodwill.
Here are some things God has made us plenteous in.
1. Fruit of the body
2. Fruit of thy cattle
3. Fruit of thy ground
4. in the land which the Lord swore unto thy fathers to give thee.
God will open unto thee three things:
1. His good treasure
2. The Heaven to give rain unto the land in his season.
3. Bless all the work of thine hand.
When we obey God we get blessed. God loves to see us blessed , he also likes it when we obey him with out seconded guessing ourselves or him. God may have told you to give one of your co-workers fifty dollars. That is a lot of money if you don’t make much to beign with but God told you to do it any way. He knows that person needs that and he wants you to obey him. When we obey God our blessings can be doubled or tripled. The key word is to obey. We just have to be obedient to his word and his truth.
There is another part to this it is what we know as curses and they are found in Deuteronomy 28:16-61. I will go over those some other day. I wanted to share this frist and then share the curses with you some other time.
