WHEN OBLIVION COMES
Like a black evil beast
Spreading its tendrils
The Gloom flexes its ebony
Talons
Grasping the skies
In a menacing Death grip
And closing its claws
Even tighter
All life bemoans
The impenetrate dark
Shrieking a sorrowful
Refrain
Memory of Light
And Hope once so sweet
Is squeezed from the
Hollowed out husks
And the dross that is left
In a quivering huddle
Is devoured by the
Darkness so eager
The shards of a soul
Are all that remains
That plead for what
Never will come
So Eternity drifts
Listless and lost
While the night settles in
Forever…
