Prayers
Oh Father, if we would just seek You morning, noon, and night,
We would see how swiftly and justly on our behalf You win the fight!
Early we should seek You, rising with the dawn,
Humbling ourselves before You as the tender fawn.
Oh Father, if we would just trust You with our very lives,
So much we take for granted would take value in our eyes.
How much must we suffer as our hands do so much wrong?
If our eyes would stay upon You, we would sing a different song.
Oh Father, if we would let go of our dreams and grasp Yours for us instead,
We would find true peace and happiness and not fear, heartache, and dread.
Yet somehow, we cannot loose our grasp on what our hearts desire,
As we convince ourselves our dreams are Your dreams as we slip into the fire.
Oh Father, if we would keep our focus on Your eyes and heaven up above,
We would have no other thought or care about possessions and earthly love.
Instead our sight would be set on treasures You hold in Your heart,
And our desires would be to obey You and from Your Word would not depart.
Oh Father, why do we twist what is in our hearts to suit our own wants?
Why do we insist on our own way and give in easily when temptation taunts?
Our spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak as we struggle to be free.
Take these chains that weigh us down and lay them on that tree.
Of Father, thank You that You never leave and always linger near,
So when we fall and lay there broken, You are there to catch each tear.
Your wing outstretched over our wreckless lives gives us shade from certain heat,
Until we learn the lessons taught, to once more stand upon our feet.
Of Father, what love is this that stretched out its arms and died?
Such love no one can match that is tested, true and tried.
With robes of righteousness, You clothe us even though our lives don’t merit,
Yet gently, You wrap us in Your love so pure and send us out to share it.
Of Father, time draws near when we will hear the trumpet’s call.
We must be about our Father’s business to reach mankind – one and all.
Our purpose on this earth is urgent as You give us so many signs,
That those who do not overcome will soon run out of time.
Oh Father, help me to stand before Your throne and look upon Your face,
With confidence and joy that I overcame and diligently won my race.
With eager anticipation, I will await to hear You convey the prize I’ve won,
As You open up the Book of Life, and with a smile, say, “Well done.”

me was this one:
If we would just keep our eyes upon Him, what joy then awaits us. What an inspiring piece! Love, Sharon
So when we fall and lay there broken, You are there to catch each tear."
What a great assurance that we are not alone in our struggles. God is forever near to embrace us, lift us up and wipe every tear. Joyce, I can tell you're so inspired as when you wrote this beautiful poetic prayer, a sweet aroma reaching the Heavens, right to the heart of God. God bless you. Love, Gloria
