Encouragement
"What you fail to appreciate will surely depreciate."
The above is a common saying to encourage a soul to take note and care of what he is blessed with. Any failure to take perfect care of such things is a direct invitation to depreciation, irreparable loss, and sorrow.
No one ever covets or desires any of the three mentioned above but people experience them through their failure to appreciate and take proper care of what they have.
It is insulting to belittle what your Creator has blessed you with. A radio presenter recently tagged such people as the first set and the most populous among the enemies of God.
Do not join them. Appreciate whatever you have been blessed with. It is then that its value will increase. It will not dwindle.
One great danger associated with not being appreciative of what you have is sorrow. Experience has shown that all those who saw the Lord's blessings in their lives as nothing weep and cry after they have lost them. The reason is that, many times the loss is irreparable.
An example from the Scriptures will surface here.
Esau was the firstborn of Isaac and Rebecca. The birthright belonged to him. On a day of hunger, he begged his brother, Jacob to feed him with his food. Jacob required what mattered most to him which he did not have because it did not belong to him. Upon request from the rightful owner, he got it as Esau said,
"Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?" Genesis 25:32, KJV, King James Version.
This was how Esau despised his birthright. He later realized his error. He labored but could not get it back. He shed tears over it but could not get it back. He lost it finally and eternally.
Beloved, what do you have? Appreciate it now. Treasure and take proper care of it. Protect and use it for the glory of God. Do not despise it so that you will not weep over its loss later in life. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
