“And Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’
Jesus said to him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’ ” John 20: 28,29
Thomas expressed the most fitting of responses in seeing the risen Lord Jesus....”My Lord and my God.”
Very personal was his recognition of Who stood before him – the Lord God of heaven and earth and the Lord God of his soul and every facet of his life.
Thomas believed because of Who he saw with his very eyes and Jesus points that out. Jesus, however, tells also of a blessedness that would be poured out upon those “who have not seen yet have believed”; those who have been graced to walk by faith and not by sight. Some day, some glorious day, that faith will be made sight.
