HOPE FOR THE HOPELESS
Proverbs 13:12 a “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick:” KJV
Life without hope would be to experience death while yet alive; the death of a dream, opportunity, or perhaps love. Without hope, darkness fills a person’s soul and emptiness takes over their life. One feels there is no reason to go on. All seems lost. It casts a dark shadow over any good that still exists. It becomes all-consuming. It can make one feel a sense of loss without a chance of recovery. The death of hope then becomes their life until that person is living in a void, taking up space in the span of time God has given them to live.
One never considers how precious the gift of hope is until one feels they have lost it. In truth it is not lost, it has been stolen. A thief has come in during those dark times of that person’s life and stolen hope, and in turn, planted a lie. That lie causes one to feel the light has gone out in their life with no chance of it returning. One is left in utter darkness, or in a gray haze that never seems to lift. To stay in a state of hopelessness can lead to thoughts of suicide, feeling there is no reason to go on. We know this is of Satan. It is time to stand up and fight. God has given us His armor; it is time to use it.
Romans 15:4 b “that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” KJV
Hope brings possibilities. It looks for miracles. It brings light to those dark places in our lives. Hope sparks anticipation for that which we desire. It intensifies our faith in our God and in His Word as we wait for the fulfillment of that which we have prayed for. Hope is full of glory and will fill us with joy unspeakable.
Hope is God-given, but we must remember that we may not always receive what we hope for. In truth, it is best if we do not get that thing we want if it is not in God’s will. By denying us certain things, He is, in essence, showing us mercy. God knows the beginning from the end, and He knows some things can hurt us and become a detriment to our Christian growth. We need always to seek God first concerning our desires and pray accordingly, for then "the God of hope will fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost." Romans15"13
PSALMS 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord” KJV
Jeremiah 17:7 "Blessed is the man who trusteth in the Lord, whose hope is the Lord."
Hope is an ongoing action. It goes hand in hand with faith and patience, for everything we hope for will not come quickly. We need to trust God, pray the Word, and continue the good fight.
Hope springs eternal: the flame must not be extinguished.
