PROLOGUE
I awoke recently to a rather startling news bulletin. So, startling in fact, that It almost brought me to tears. It seems that a certain political activist has called for the destruction of the Jesus Christ statues and any stained glass window displays from all churches of worship. His announcement has gone virial on the Internet.
How can this be, here in today’s God-fearing freedom-loving America? This is the one country which was established on the principles of the Supreme Judge of the world, which also provided for the sound learning needed to perpetuate the inestimable blessings of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety.
I trust, then, that you will comprehend the intent of this Scripture-related blog (II Timothy 3:16-17) which I have titled “Back to America’s Future.”
Why back to the future? It’s simple. We Christians are now looking back to the blessing of the past and forward to that blessed hope of the future. (Titus 2:13-14)

“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in Heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. “(Psalm 2:1-4)
Why are we down here on earth pulling our hair out, having conniption fits, and otherwise resorting to and pronouncing all kinds of folly and idiocy? Not to mention the rumors pouring across the atmospheric airwaves, and the person-to-person invocations?
I must admit, I’m older than dirt and twice as gritty, and I’ve never before seen anything like these goings-on within this great country of ours. Sometimes, I even feel like banging this old hard head of mine against the proverbial stone wall in annoyed protest.
I can now truthfully say, I’ve never in my lifetime seen anything like this senseless, unprovoked devastation going on in this great country of ours. There is a disdain for freedom, for law and order, and for our basic God-given fundamental principles of life. (II Peter 3:16)
America is literally being destroyed from within. Are the "Powers That Be" standing around doing nothing about this destructive activity? Governors, mayors, politicians of both mainline political persuasions seem to be sitting on their prevrerbial hands while America burns to the ground. Are they simply sitting by while lawless mobs tear down historic statues and destroy our cities? And where are America’s religious leaders? I surely hope and pray this is not as it seems.
Take it for what it’s worth, this is still our country, “The Land of the free, the home of the brave.” Now, this land of the free is utterly being obliterated and demolished, apparently by those not so brave.
Can we not still adore the providential care of our living Creator by requesting that God bless America? It seems not, as I've surfed the Internet lately. A certain faction now wants to tear down any mention of Jesus from our country's churches.
Do we not still enjoy the fruits of the freedoms brought out by our founding fathers as they wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”? I think so.
I enjoy a good lawful debate or discussion. Even the right to peaceably assemble. America was founding on such. Nonetheless, like most American’s, I adhort violence, destruction, and its resulting injury or death.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free excise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; on the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”( The Constitution of the United States of America, Amendment I )
Who are these likeminded individuals seemingly causing all this destruction? Where have they come from? What are their motives? It appears as if they are a group of well trained, well-organized individuals, experts at destruction.
Who are these people, the Main Stream Media so freely gives credit to by way of the nightly primetime news, in living HD color, as they continue to annihilate this great country of ours?
Don’t they have jobs? Are they not a part of the American family structure? Are they not from these particular cities they are destroying? Or are these would be destroyers simply going about from one location to another, basically doing a pay-for-work job? From all appearances they certainly are not local church goers.
Apparently, they are not very well-versed in America’s history since they are tearing down monuments of the very same historic people they claim to be representing. And they are attempting to discard the very law enforcement entities that preserve our freedom.
In any event, given the fact that they may have been evilly-influenced, they are still God’s creations, created after His own likeness and image (Genesis 1:26-27), and surely worth saving for His purposes. We must continue praying for them all.
How did all this upheaval come about? This progressive cultural change didn’t happen overnight. Its roots can be traced back to the very beginning of mankind’s original sin in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:1-7)
This sin has had thousands of years growth, with Satan’s evil influence and with the assistance of his fallen demonic angels.(Revelation 12:4)
You see, we are at war, an unseen spiritual war of many battles. (Ephesians 6:12) According to Dr. Charles Ryrie, “The believer’s enemies are the demonic hosts of Satan, always assembled for mortal combat.”
Satan’s war, by way of the influence of his minions, has advanced forward into today’s human civilization. Every day, here in America, we now see the result of these unseen battles through the destructive intentions of today’s human elements. We see these results in prime-time television's vivid HD color.
And what’s helped to bring this Godless influence to prominence? My opinion is, it's the times we are living in, what the Scripture refers to as the Last Days.
The Peril of Apostasy is running rampant. (II Timothy 3:1-9, 13) People are no longer content to hear the sound teachings of Scripture (II Timothy 4:3-4), but have turned to false teachers. (II Peter 2:1-3) Yes, mankind has all but given up on these last day prophetical promises (II Peter 3:3-4), even while fulfilling the prophecy with their deeds.
Is there any wonder, given the evil intentions of man's sin nature, that America’s civilization has progressed to today’s ungodly, destructive state of affairs?
I realize excuses are running rampant. If you desire to read the newspaper, tune in main stream radio or television, surf the Internet, or simply talk to your neighbors over the picket fence, you will certainly get an earful. And if that’s not enough, take a look at today’s political environment, or lend an ear in church. There excuses are also readily available.
But this evil destruction continues on. When and where will it stop? Hopefully before America totally falls to this evil-generated, unseen persuasion.
What do you think our living Creator God may be doing in these troubled times? We know, based on His Word, that nothing takes Him by surprise. Regardless of the ulterior motives of some factions, God will place whomever He wishes in authority over this great country of ours. (Daniel 2:21)
As we see, in our introductory passage, King David unveils the resolve of world leaders to rebel against the Lord to no avail. It would not be a surprise if God looked down from His heavenly throne, knowing what His future plans are for His people and simply laughed.
We can take comfort in knowing our Creator God is still on the throne (Psalm 47:8), and in control of all events. (Deut 31:6,8) We know these troublesome times did not take our Creator by surprise.
I have read the back of the book, and guess what? We Christians win. (Daniel 7:21-22) So, take comfort and return back to America’s future.
Nonetheless, time for me to jump down off my proverbial soap box. It's time to check the mailbox for my retirement check. Amen!
EPILOGUE
A closing thought. How many media news broadcasters have you heard, when broadcasting the results of these chaotic happenings, mention the Gospel and prayer as a solution? Or do you hear them suggesting passing out a few New Testament Bibles, or some good gospel tracts?
Here is a mission field white unto harvest (John 4:35), if we would only follow the dictates of Scripture. (Matthew 28:19-20) (Acts 1:8)
So we should commit this civil unrest to prayer. Pray for its followers, those government officials in power, and the police. I realize this entire situation has not taken our Creator, God, by surprise. But we should do what we are called to do by God's Word.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)
