TIME
By Paul Taylor
The carnal nature of man is selfishness and greed. We are all born with it and with proper training, we can unlearn this characteristic and thereby have a greater ability to suppress these desires.
Now, , allow me to pose the following to you.
Imagine if you will, at midnight every night you have deposited in your bank account, $86,400, but any balance you had at 11:59 is reset to zero. You must use the entire amount in the 24 hours, or you lose the remaining balance. No balance is carried forward. You start the day fresh with $86,400 every day for the rest of your life.
Now how would you spend that $86,400?
I can see the wheels rolling in your head right now.
That luxury vehicle will now be mine as I cruise around for all my friends and family to salivate over.
Now I will need a spacious garage to protect it, well now I need a better and larger house to go with that garage. And while they are building my new house and garage, I’ll just take that trip around the world in a private jet I’ve always wanted too.
Wow! NO MORE DEBT. NO MORE SLAVING DAILY TO MAKE ENDS MEET.
Now the majority would react in almost that precise way, going on a spending and shopping binge as if there were no tomorrow, throw lavish parties, satisfying every carnal desire you ever had, but, maybe there won’t be a tomorrow, You see we are not promised tomorrow, yesterday is past and today is a present for which we should show gratitude and thankfulness to the one which granted it to us.
Carnal man is so fixated on materialistic acquisitions, and fleshly pleasures that he is almost incapable of focusing on the most important things of life, until it is too late, and then you realize, hindsight is 20/20, what a fool I was.
Lot and his family were so engrossed in the lifestyle of Sodom & Gomorrah, the angels had to forcibly remove them, and just in the nick of time, but Lots wife could not bear leaving all these worldly pleasures behind and by looking back and longing for what she left behind, she forfeited her life.
Take Jesus as an example; Here is a man that was God on earth, with the power to still the raging seas, calm roaring winds, demand demons to flee, heal the sick, restore sight to the blind and even raise the dead from the grave.
Yet, this man, Jesus owned nothing but the clothes upon His back, neither did He have a place to call His home, sleeping where others would allow Him or sleeping under the stars.
Jesus could have destroyed those that crucified Him, but instead he whimpered not a word as He suffered the pains of beatings, insults, mockery and finally a brutal and barbaric death at the hands of the very ones He came to save, as well as for you and I.
Jesus never complained or sought materialistic goods, fancy carriages, or luxury hotels, Instead He stayed in constant communications with His father in Heaven who supplied all His needs. Now the key word here is “NEEDS”. God promises to supply all our needs, He didn’t promise a 50-million-dollar jet and several luxury vacation homes, which is what most believe they’re entitled to if they decide to follow Jesus. What a deception! Jesus only offers you 2 things when you choose to follow Him:
# 1 Eternal Life for your faithful and trusting obedience to His will.
And # 2 THE CROSS, which comes with the persecution of abandonment by your friends and family, insults, mockery, chastisement, disinheritance and many other forms of cruelty, and if you can endure it we have the assurance of an eternal and blessed existence with this very same Jesus that suffered for you and me.
Rev.14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Now back to the $86,400.00.
You see, your given 86.400 at the ending of every day that you have breath in your body, but it is not money which you can spend on luxury or materialistic goods.
There are 24 hours in each day and each hour has 60 minutes and each minute has 60 seconds, which comes out to 86,400 seconds per day. Now how you spend that time is completely up to you, God gives us free choice as to how we live our lives and we should make every second meaningful especially for those we love and those that are less fortunate than we are.
You see if you are a follower of Jesus then you should be following the example, He set for us when He walked among men. There is a perfect illustration of this in Matthew 25:32-46.
Read it and think about how you spend that 86,400 seconds per day, and whose life you could make a difference in by spending this free gift that God gives each one of us on meaningful things rather than worldly pleasures and aspirations.. Some are more fortunate than others and we should share what God freely gives to us with our fellow man.
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was a hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee a hungered , and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was a hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee a hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, in as much as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
One more verse to hopefully gain the attention of those Christians believing that because you are a member of a church, and by making your appearance once a week and dropping a few dollars into the offering plate, and once the service is over, it’s back to normal and you are automatically bound for heaven.
My friend, it is my responsibility as a Christian to warn you of the rude awakening you are in for. You had better get into studying Gods word, or you and many more will be following the pied piper straight to the lake of fire.
Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Repent and turn from your sins for today is the day of salvation
