" For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. " (Luke 2:11)
TWAS AN OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS
Big soft driven snowflakes come slowly drifting down,
Young ones peeking through the shutters in holiday gowns.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Sleigh bells blissfully ringing, moving leisurely in new snow,
Children happily seated caroling joyously as they go.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Mr. Snowman standing tall looking upward to the sky,
Hoping to be the first young one to hear the reindeer cry.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
In the kitchen the smell of goodies blessed by Mom's fame,
Topped with sugar plum treats all to grandmother's acclaim.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
In the big room the tree glowing with the trimmings and light,
As its image is shadowed in the window's bright moonlight.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Seeing Grandpa hide by the tree holding presents to his ear,
Next comes the gentle shaking carefully guessing so sincere.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Watching Dad artistically stack the wood and stoke the fire,
Then hang all those stockings while we all would conspire.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Young ones snug in bed on the eve's perfect clear blue night,
Others moving quietly to see if old Santa Claus is in sight.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
That early Christmas morn as gift wrappings become a blur,
From Mom and Dad's upstairs bedroom still not even a stir.
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
Now comes the traditional festive dinner, much to our delight,
Afterwards that needed nap and to all a peaceful good night,
'Twas An Old Fashioned Christmas
How peaceful were those days to return to yesteryear,
Hearing Mom read the Christmas story much to our cheer.
'Twas an old fashioned Christmas
THE WISE MEN SAW THE LIGHT
The Wise Men saw the holy light
As they traveled in the dead of night
They traveled from a distant land
All kings of a very important band
Watching the star as they did go
In hopes of seeing God's own show
Traveling to His place in a new day
To where the Christ Child did play
Bringing gifts of worldwide fame
Into the lowly household they came
Kneeling down to worship the King
With the special gifts they did bring
Leaving the scene with all delight
Taking to a different flight
The baby is safe and so are they
Returning to worship another day
Wise men still seek Him in His fame
The gospel He does now proclaim
Will you come now and hear Him out?
Will you come worship with a shout?
Like the Wise Men He has a reward
To all those who will get on board
The Wise Men saw the holy light
As they traveled to the holy site
'TIS THE SEASON
Our old fashion fireplace is now bare
The customary stockings are not there
The trimmings are not hung with care
'Tis the season
The joyful children are nowhere in sight
The season lights don't shine in the night
The big tree is not trimmed with the light
'Tis the season
The naughty and nice list is not scorned
The red and white suit is now not adorned
The big man's seat is now being mourned
'Tis the season
The church bells are no longer joyful ringing
The choir voices no longer happily singing
The bells have now stopped their dinging
'Tis the Season
The season parade march will not now go
The big school band will now be a no show
The crowed street onlookers will not flow
'Tis the season
All the big crowds are nowhere in sight
For they have taken their heavenly flight
And it is now much to the season's plight
'Tis the season
So what is all this about they ask in disgust
So where the people disappeared is a must
So will they all come back again I indeed trust
'Tis the season
IN A MANGER
In a manger the little baby lay
All snuggled up in the newly cut hay
A common birth for a common man
All in accord to His Father's big plan
His coming announced from the sky
As angels sang their sweet lullaby
Shepherds yielded to Heavens light
To the city they did take their flight
Wise men would soon come from afar
Just to follow Heavens unknown star
The ruler tried to take the gospel away
Like a rock the gospel is here to stay
Why in a stable not a palace of gold
Simply put it was the gospel foretold
Rich and poor would worship the King
Glad hearts and presents they did bring
Come lets us all sing as when it all began
Glory in the highest and peace among man
IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT
In the still of the night
God took his earthly flight
To a lowly stable bed
As the Holy word foresaid
Angels harkened to proclaim
The precious Savior's name
Peace on earth good will to all
Humble shepherds they did draw
God shined brightly in the star
Wise men did follow from afar
Precious gifts they would bring
To worship the new born King
While on earth miracles incurred
By the spreading of God's word
Many hearts opened to believe
As the Gospel they did receive
In the still of the night
God took His heavenly flight
To prepare Heaven's zone
For worship at God's Throne
God's light still shines today
Finding those who are astray
By faith who may believe
God's Grace to them receive
THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Show me the way to that old tree
Show me the first star to give glee
Show me the manger there to see
Show me the Child who was the key
Show me the road to Calvary
Show me the way to that old tree
Show me where He walked for me
Show me where He died for me
Show me where He set me free
Show me the road to Calvary
Show me the way to that old tree
Show me the garden of Gethsemane
Show me where He bent His knee
Show me where He gave His plea
Show me the road to Calvary
Show me the way to that old tree
Show me His flight so I may see
Show me the air in which He did flee
Show me He will come back for me
Show me the road to Calvary
