ONE FISH, TWO FISH. WHY I’M BETTER THAN YOU FISH.
Adjusting his crown and thinking to himself
Wow! I look better than everybody else.
Let me go out into the sea,
So all the fish can have a look at me
As he swam to the playground, he met Mr. Meard
An old gray fish with a long gray beard
Hey Mr. Meard, the fish did say
You’re moving really slow
You move slower every day
With that being said, as quick as can be,
He swam circles around Mr. Meard
Than darted off into the sea
Smiling to himself about the laugh he just got
Leaving the old fish angry, with his beard in a knot.
He came across some guppies, ten of them in all
“Come play with us”, one of them shouted
We’re playing a game of volleyball.
I can’t play with you, I thought you knew
See my golden skin
This golden crown
You’re yellow, he’s purple, he’s green and he’s brown
He’s blue, he’s silver, he’s white and he’s black
Can’t you see I’m better than you
Step your little selves back
With all the different colors, he laughs at them all,
He slaps the fish with his tail
Then runs off with the volleyball
I hope they’re mad he thought
Every last one
Makes no difference to me
I’m having so much fun
As he continued to swim, he felt a rumble in his tummy
Hmm, I want something wonderful to eat
A fat juicy worm would be yummy
Out in the distance, what could that be
A chunky fat worm, floating in the sea
He swallowed up the worm, without a second look
Then ouch he screamed, the worm was on a hook
With the hook in his mouth, the fish began to fight
He swam and he fought, with all of his might
But the fisherman pulled and he jerked and released
Anticipating his delicious golden fish feast
As he fought and he fought for what seemed like a day
The golden fish felt his strength fading away
As the fisherman pulled him upward
He caught a glimpse of the sun
He thought to himself, It’s over. I’m finished. I’m done
I’m going to be his dinner’
I’m tired. He won.
Then came the brown fish, the black and the blue
The yellow fish, the silver fish
The young and old too
They grabbed the line in their mouth
And with all their strength, they swam to the south
The fisherman fought and he fought with all things as such
But the strength of the fish working together was way too much
They pulled and theypulled until they felt the line break
Then they swam to the bottom of the sea for safety sake
Why did you save me? asks the fish. It was my end
I’ve never been kind to you. I wasn’t your friend.
From the back of the crowd came old Mr. Meard
Still wearing the knots in his beard
Slowly coming forward, Mr. Meard began to speak
God made us different. Not one like the other
But we use our differences to help one another
I hope and I pray that you learned a lesson today
We all are golden in our own special way
The fish swim in closer to hear what he has to say
Thank you, he smiles. Thank you for saving my life today.
The fish smile back
Then they all run off to play.
