In order to gain wisdom there are 2 things we must do: Firstly, we must reverence God. Secondly, we must read his word. When we celebrate, meditate on, and reverence the Lord's wisdom, we become wise ourselves, and we should focus not on our own wisdom but focus on the wisdom of the Lord. "Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them." Proverbs 26:12 This is because compared to the Lord we are but dust and there is no wisdom in us.
"A proud man is always looking down on things and people; and, of course, as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something that is above you."- Cs lewis. If we think of our own "wisdom" or ourselves to be wise, we only see the world. Consequently, we fail to look up and see the true heaven-fountained wisdom of the Lord.
To illustrate this, theres a Chinese proverb about a pig who eats an apple thats fallen from a tree; he then seeks another apple but doesn't look up. Instead he frantically digs in the ground hoping to find another apple there. Sadly he doesn't think to look up and acknowledge that the apple fell from the tree above him. Wisdom (God's essence) comes from above.
Moreover, wisdom is God's essence along with power, truth, and goodness. It can also be said that wisdom is both a moral as well as an intellectual property. Lastly to end this article the fruit of wisdom is Christlikeness—peace, and humility, and love (Jas 3:17)—and the root of it is faith in Christ (1 Cor 3:18; 2 Tim 3:15) as the manifested wisdom of God.
