THE WAY UP IS DOWN!
This will always remain so, especially when God promises to bless and exalt us way up! And it may sound paradoxical and even like nonsense especially if we have worked so hard, been really faithful and waited so long to receive our inheritance in Christ Jesus by divine intervention. Take heart, you're not alone or forgotten. God's always faithful to His covenant and promise.
Proverbs 18:12
Before his downfall a person's heart is proud, and before honor and promotion comes (the test of) humility or humble, humiliating and degrading experiences (that we're innocent of).
We must fit our expectation to God's method or way of dealing with us and not the other way around, lest we miss the blessing like the Jews who wandered in the wilderness for 40 years for a journey that was to take only 11 days, so that, that whole generation, except Joshua and Caleb died in the wilderness and missed the Promised Land through their murmuring, grumbling and complaining attitude, the highest, most annoying and insulting forms of unbelief. Unbelief insults God's omnipotence while absolute faith in Him makes Him very happy, honored and glorified.
If we start from the top, the only way to go is down! The only way up is down. Start where you are, with whatever you have in hand and move up and forward. Never stay small and never remain at the bottom. Before every great promotion, is the TEST of temporary demotion. When we're weak and helpless, we become most strong and capable because we can call on God's gracious omnipotent help and supernatural abilities with all our hearts! Humility is God's nonnegotiable requirement for promotion. Are you currently dealing with some very humiliating, degrading and demoting experiences while trusting God to bless and promote you spiritually, financially, numerically or socially? Are you being tempted to think God has thus forsaken you and the devil has gotten the best of you to demote you? Don't be afraid or discouraged. Never give up. Stay very faithful, committed and diligent where you are and what you're doing now, even if you're doing those menial jobs. Great promotion is on its way for you.
Before Joseph became Egypt's Prime Minister, he was thrown down into the pit, sold as a slave and sent innocently into prison. And before the nation of Israel who were very great, highly respected and prosperous in Egypt left for the Promised Land, they became despised slaves. King David was the least and despised of Jesse's family. He had to lead sheep before he could lead people and was the servant of king Saul before he became king of Israel. Even Jesus Christ, God in the flesh and the only begotten Son of God could never bypass God's order or requirement for promotion.
Philippians 2:5-11.
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
1 Peter 5:6.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Proverbs 22:4.
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.
Ephesians 4:9,10.
Notice that it says “he ascended.” This clearly means that Christ also descended to our lowly world. And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself.
God's blessings and promotion are according to His Word and covenant with us and never limited by our negative or oppressive circumstances we find ourselves. Jesus said, "Be it unto you according to your faith" Matthew 9:29. It's promotion time.
