This is My commandment, that you love and unselfishly seek the best for one another, just as I have loved you. (1 John 15:3, AMP).
Loving people based on their merits is not love. True love is the ability to look past their actions, ethnicity, lifestyle choices, and who they are. Love covers a multitude of sins, thus relinquishing you from accepting others based on your preconceived belief they have to gain your love. Love allows you to place yourself in their shoes and embrace them even when you feel they’re not worthy of it. Also, when you genuinely love someone you forgive them seventy times seven without keeping a record of the wrong, they’ve done. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking; it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Love knows no boundaries. It seeks no attention or special rewards. Love goes beyond the limits and makes the greatest sacrifice. Love looks out for what is best and puts worth the effort to give the noblest in service, deeds, and time.
It requires you to love as Christ loves you. You graciously place the needs of others above your own. It endures through difficult times. It is there even when the person isn’t at their best. Genuine love won’t fade nor change because you didn’t meet their expectations. This kind of love continues when the world turns their back on you. Therefore, it’s selfless, unconditionally, and unwavering loyalty. Love suffers long and is relentless.
Father, I will emulate you as I love regardless of circumstances, actions, and how someone treats me. My love comes from a pure heart, and is steadfast and unconditional. In Jesus Name. Amen
