Have you ever been filled with doubt, worry, and fear? Did you know that in the Spirit, we are surrounded by an army far greater than any enemy we will ever face?
Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:15-17 NAS
Elisha’s servant was filled with fear when he woke up and saw the city surrounded by the enemy. They had come to capture Elisha after learning he was the one advising the King of Israel, leading to the enemies defeat. But Elisha was not the least bit afraid and prayed that God would open the eyes of his servant to the spiritual. God did so, and his servant could now see an overwhelming army with chariots of fire surrounding the enemy. An army far greater and more powerful than the opposition.
God will never leave or forsake those whose faith is in Christ.
Let your manner of life be without covetousness, being satisfied with the present; for He Himself has said: "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." Heb 13:5 BLB
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:16-17 NAS
God goes before us.
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” Deut 31:6 NAS
The LORD Himself goes before you; He will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” Deut 31:8 BSB
The Angel of the Lord encamps around us.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. Psalm 34:7 NAS
His angels guard and minister to us.
for it is written, 'HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU TO GUARD YOU,' Luke 4:10 NAS
Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? Heb 1:14 BSB
We are cheered on, surrounded and encouraged by a great cloud of witness to the faith.
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:1-2 NAS
Open My Eyes Father
Did you know that God calls us to no longer recognize ourselves and others in the flesh, the old creation? We are called to see ourselves and others as God sees us, finished, complete and perfected in the Spirit, the new creation He has made us in Christ. The old creation is dead to God and should be to us too. When we commit to opening our eyes as God has called, we walk by faith in the Spirit and not by sight in the flesh. When we do, we begin to see the great assembly who surround us in the Spirit.
Therefore from now on we recognize/regard no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:16-19 NAS
Dear Father, I want to see with the eyes of Elisha. Open my eyes to who I am in the Spirit, the new creation I am in Christ. Open my eyes to see my brothers and sisters in Christ, in the new creation you have made them. Open my eyes to see the great assembly, the cloud of witnesses and the angels who encamp around me. Open my eyes to see You Father. Amen
