Highly Favored One
God has His appointments with everyone, however later some turn to be disappointments when the privilege bestowed is neglected and ignored.
God chose Mary to be the means to come into the world and this was for her a great privilege and rightly did the angel Gabriel call her as ‘highly favored one’
“And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”” Luke 1:28 NKJV
Even though she was truly blessed among women to bear the Lord in her womb and be an mother to Him, yet this privilege did not come without hardships and sorrow…the trouble in finding a place for Christ to be born, later watching Him grow and performing wonders and miracles and being rejected by many, and seeing how he was ridiculed and brutally crucified and died, she also had the blessed privilege to witness His resurrection and be a believer in the Lord Who was also her child while on the earth.
A Christian life is truly a privileged life, yet not a bed of roses all the time, for there are many who have joyfully endured hardships for the joy within and the hope of eternity.
‘Foxe book of Martyrs’ has an account of many such saints probably whom the world may not know, however they are known by God who have stood faithful to God in their appointments. They were brutally persecuted for their faith, however joyfully endured every pain for the hope set before them.
The Apostles of Christ also rejoiced in their persecutions….
“And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.” Acts 5:40-42 NKJV
It is truly a great privilege to know God, however this privilege and blessedness come along with hatred from the world and persecution from probably them “who do know what they are doing”, we need to love them, forgive them and pray for them.
What a blessedness to know that we are ……
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;”
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
We need to ever proclaim the praises of Him Who appointed us to blessedness, even if we may have to suffer hardships, for the joy within is far greater than anything in this world.
God Bless.
