And the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah and Jonah was in the stomach of the fish three days and three nights. Jonah 1:17 NASB
When you feel like your situation just went from the frying pan into the fire, it really might not be the case. Jonah was in a ship that couldn’t stand the storm, then, he had to be thrown into the sea, as if that wasn’t scary enough, he was swallowed by a fish. It just kept getting worse, it seemed. But being swallowed by the fish got him out of the water which engulfed him to the point of death and gave him a chance to pray. Sometimes the situation that seems like the worse may just be God’s way of attending to our need. It’s always difficult to understand how God works out His plans.
The faithfulness of God doesn’t decrease with how intense our problems might seem to progress. He is powerful enough to deliver us from every situation and is willing to do so. The weapon to fight and sail through life’s storms is faith. Having faith and trusting in the Lord during those difficult times is a decision we must make however tough it may seem. As we do this, we look forward to seeing God’s power and greatness on a whole new level. And then we would have a testimony like Jonah or Job who also faced a series of problems. Remember what the disciples said about Jesus, even the winds and waves obey Him! (Matthew 8:27). Yes, every storm obeys Him including life’s storms. Jesus is right there with us and in control.
