The Name Of Jesus
In order for us to fully understand the power that is in the name of Jesus, we must first understand why we use the name of Jesus. When God created this world, He gave Adam dominion over the earth. But Adam disobeyed God and lost the dominion that God had given him. God sent Jesus to earth as a man to be the sinless sacrifice for Adam and all of humanity. By Jesus obedience to God, He regained the dominion that God gave Adam as a man. After Jesus regained the dominion as a man He gave it back to man in the person of the Apostles who represented the church. In the book of Romans the bible gives us a contrast between Adam in the garden of Eden, and Jesus Christ who is also called the last Adam.1 Cor.15:45. It reads; “ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who (Adam) is the figure of him that was to come (Jesus Christ). But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one (Adam) many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one (Adam) that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one (Adam) judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one (Jesus Christ) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience (Adam) many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous. That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord”. Rom.5:14-21
Jesus came to earth as a man, regained the dominion that Adam lost and gave the dominion back to His followers the Apostles who represented the church, His body. Jesus has given the church the authority to operate in the dominion that He has received from God by using His name. Jesus tells us in John 14:12-14 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it”…Jesus says that whatsoever we ask God our Father in His Name, God will do it. That is a powerful statement indeed…Jesus gives the Apostles who represents the church the commission that we need to operate in the dominion that He has received, listen…”.And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”.Mark:16:17,18 Jess says that as we use His name miracles would take place, He says that we would cast out demons in His name. All of the power that Jesus displayed when He walked the earth has been given to His body the church to operate in the earth. All that is required of us is to believe, when we believe that miracles will take place when we use the name of Jesus, God will back up our words.
Watch Peter operate in the name of Jesus; “Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God”. Acts3:6-8 Listen to the explanation that Peter gives to the people concerning this miracle of healing, Peter says; “The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all”. Acts 3:14-16 All of the success of the Apostles in the book of Acts is contributed to their use of Jesus name. The rulers of Israel questioned the apostles about this miracle of healing and Peter gives them this explanation, listen;
“ Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole” Acts 4:8 The Apostles angered the leaders of Israel as Jesus did, to the point that the Apostles were beaten and put in Jail, but upon their release they prayed to God for boldness, listen; “And now, Lord, behold their threatening: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness”.Acts4:29-31 God answers their prayer with an earthquake. If you are attempting to operate in this earth in the name of name of Jesus, but you are not born again, you are walking on dangerous ground, listen. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded” Acts 19:13-16 This group of men was attempting to cast out a demon in the name of Jesus but were not true believers, and the demon that they were attempting to cast out beat them terribly…All of us may not have the need to cast out demons, but we all have the need to pray, and Jesus has given us the authority to use His name in prayer, listen to Jesus. “And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you”. John 16:22,23 We are to end each and every one of our prayers in Jesus Name…The church is the body of Chris, we make Christ visible in the earth. The bible calls us Ambassadors of Christ.1Cor.5:20 Jesus has given us His authority, and His name to be effective. Children of God, go about your daily life in the victorious name of Jesus. Amen
