CONSIDER THE LILLIES
I am a creature of perfection, yet the imperfection is nearly blinding. I was created in the image and likeness of Almighty God. I have been born again, thanks to the shed blood of Christ Jesus at Golgotha. I am a temple of the Holy Ghost. And yet, I have to admit that the vast majority of the time, I feel far from holy. Why? Because I have believed a lie.
"I believe Lord, help thou my unbelief." A very sincere request on the part of the man who spoke to Jesus. But having prayed sincerely, wholeheartedly and honestly for His defeat of and power over our unbelief, we must accept the deliverance. "Be ye holy, even as I am holy." It's not an impossible standard. It's designed to push us to always try to get as near to it as is humanly possible.
Think about it. We're not merely human if we are born again of the incorruptible, everlasting, eternal blood of Jesus. We are spirit-men. "I said ye are gods." The words are Jesus' words, not mine. "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name." Now that's true power! Not some miserable counterfeit that the father of lies dishes out like pablum to a sin-sick corrupted world. Is it conceit, is it audacity, is it blasphemy to regard yourself as a vessel capable of holiness? No, it is a necessity. We have to quit grieving and quenching the Holy Ghost in our lives. We must give Him all. Then we are fit for battle. Then we will tear down strongholds and put the enemy to flight. We need the boldness of David when he fought against the enemies of God. We need the faith of Elijah when he stood alone against 850 prophets from Satan. There were no doubts in his mind. Because he knew God. So do we. We just don't act upon it the way that we should. And that is a grievous sin because Almighty God has entrusted us with so much. He loves you so much. His mercy and His pardon and His ability to transform you is unfathomable. Reach out. He's there. I believe Lord, I believe.
