Every disciple of Jesus Christ should forever be grateful to God for giving Believers the Living Manual, that is, the Holy Bible with which all saints can navigate the sea of life successfully. All that you want to become or all that you can become is embedded in the Holy Scriptures. Not only this, it contains sure principles that can help you in every facet of your life.
One of such principles is the payment of Tithes and Offerings. It is sad that one of the most contested principles in the Holy Bible is this. Those who twist it do so “... to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.”
What does the Holy Bible say about Tithes and Offerings?
“Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me! ...
In tithes and offerings. “Malachi 3:8abc. New King James Version
Those who wrestle the word of the Lord do not know that it stands forever. Apostle Peter calls them “untaught and unstable people”. (2Peter 3:16c).
Let me tell a story of an encounter between payers and non-payers of Tithes and Offerings. This story was carried by a national newspaper in Nigeria in the ‘90s.
What happened?
An 18- passenger bus was conveying people between two cities that were about fifty minutes- drive apart. In the middle of the Journey, certain men interrupted the smooth journey. They stopped the bus and ordered the passengers to alight.
They later officially introduced themselves through their spokesman thus,
“We are armed robbers! We are not ready to harm anybody who co-operate with us.”
Everybody was shivering, their hearts become fluid.
The next commandment was,
“If you know that you pay your tithes and offerings in full to date, separate yourself to this side” the spokesman said pointing to a point on his right hand side. Three persons complied.
Another robber looked at their faces intently and said,
“You are faithful indeed!”
How did he know? You can come up with many answers that are possibilities.
Now, the armed robbers faced passengers who did not pay tithes and offerings. Their spokesman said,
“You are robbers! Therefore, we are not guilty to take
all that you have on you. For this reason, we need your
co operation. We do not intend to do you any harm, only
tell the truth by bringing out all the money on you.
If you hide any valuable thing from us, you are dead for it.”
In complete obedience, they all surrendered everything of value to the armed robbers.
The words contained in the book of Jeremiah chapter fifty in verse seven came true. It states “All who found them have devoured them,
And their adversaries said, “We have not offended,
Because they have sinned against the Lord,
The habitation of Justice,
The Lord, the hope of their Fathers.” New King James Version.
The plain truth is that if you rob the Lord in tithes and offerings, you will also be robbed by satan and his agents. Therefore, be wise. Obey the Scriptures by paying your tithes and offerings so the Lord will rebuke devourers on your behalf.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
