Encouragement
The Burden of Success
Have you ever wondered why parents invest so much in the life of their children? At least the good ones. They work so hard to provide for their children. They work hard to show their children to live the “right” way. They work hard to prepare them for the world. They never want to see their children fail or become less than what they know is their potential. At times, parents seem over protective, over obsessive, over reactive and a multitude of other things. They even take it personal and hurt more when their kids fail or make a big mistake. And when the kids succeed and live up to their potential, you can’t stop their parents’ joy. It is almost like they want to shout it out from the rooftops. We have all experienced that one parent that that’s always “bragging” about their kid.
Again the question remains. Why do parents feel the need to do what they do? Especially, when raising some of us is a lot more of a challenging than raising others.
The answer is that this virtue is a part of our Divinely orchestrated nature that was abounded to all of mankind at creation. Matthew 7:7-11 illustrates this principle very clearly. If our parents with all their flawed ways and short-comings can do all these amazing things, the one they got it from (I am not taking about our ancestors but the one that created them) is the source of all of it. And to make things even more awesome he happens to be perfect and holy.
So now the focus of our question shifts to God which makes it even more essential for us to find the answer. Why is it important to our Heavenly Father for us to succeed?
Well, we don’t have to guess and speculate to find this answer. Ephesians 1 explains to us that it is God’s will and pleasure to become our father and give us the privilege of being his children. IN CHRIST. Although it looks very trivial for most and one can read over it, the phrase “IN CHRIST” gives us a greater insight to answer the question asked above.
The phrase IN CHRIST describes the position that each believer should and must have if he/she considers themselves as a child of God. This phrase implies we are not just accessories to Christ but vital parts of his body. In other words, we are and must live like we are the lungs, livers, kidneys, and all the other parts of the body that make it complete with him at the Head. Therefore, just like our bodies can’t function correctly if we miss one of our vital organs or if one of our organs fail, the body of Christ (which is us) can’t afford to fail with Christ at it’s a head.
For this reason, our Father considers each one of us to be vital organs for his body to work according to his will and so therefore He will ensure that He does what any good parent will do for his children. The word of God describes us as being Christ’s inherence just as we have our inheritance in Him.
Considering that God is faithful to His own Word in a way we can’t even imagine, next time you find yourself in a situation where you’re doubting your spiritual, emotional, intellectual, or physical success, remember that as long as you are IN His body your success is inevitable.
