Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. James 1:22 and 25 NIV
To be spiritually nourished, we must read God’s word. It is truly meat for the soul. However, it is not good enough for us to just read God’s word. We must put His word into practice in our lives. Following God’s word is not a simple task. So what do we do?
First off, we have the indwelling Spirt to help and guide us. Next, we must focus on all the Lord has done for us. Is it not justifiable for Him to ask of us in return? That which we are asked to do pales in comparison to what Christ has done for us. We can keep in mind the unfailing love the Lord has for us, and keep in mind that He alone knows what is best for us. Toss aside that belief that you know what is best for you. That is the evil one lying to you! Also, we must seek the Lord in prayer. Any relationship which is successful is based on two-way communication. Believe me, the Lord waits, willingly ready to communicate with the one who humbly comes to Him in prayer. And, we must step out in faith, doing that which may seem unclear or odd to us. If the Lord directs you to do something, then, as Nike says “Just do it.”
So many blessings are bestowed upon him who reads and puts into practice the Word of God. Read and do, and receive an abundance of blessings.

Great encouraging article that relates not just reading, knowing the Word of God but putting it into practice. We must not just be hearers of the Word but doers. Right on!
Knowing is just part of living a Godly life and honoring God. Plato was wrong in that he said when we know what is right, we do what is right. Of course, what a worldly philosopher says is right is not necessarily right. As was the case of Slick Willy Clinton, there was a struggle over what "is" is.
It's good you mentioned having faith that God knows what's best for us, and we must wait for his timing. As Max Lucado wrote, God is working in the background.
That's for imparting wisdom and encouraging me in my situation with Sandi in the nursing home - to trust God in this matter and accept his will. I had a scare yesterday morning. I couldn't get her up for breakfast and the nurse couldn't rouse her for her meds. I prayed and asked God to have me think and do the right thing, and I messaged my pastor back and forth. I went out a couple hours to get my car fixed, and when I returned, Sandi had taken a 180 degree turn.
She ate all her lunch, drank her breakfast juice, lunch juice, coffee and shake. Later had some coke! And ate all her dinner. She's been awake and communicating most of today. I got giddy and did a parody of the song "One scotch, one burbon, one beer" - "one juice, one coffee, and shake."
