Practice Recognizing Him!
by Robert Schaetzle
“ For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20 NKJV
Much of our world today is a culture all about demonstrating self-worth and dominance of controlling power. But whose power prevails to bring lasting value and purpose? Our Lord’s admonition ‘not to be conformed to this world, but transformed,’ is a heads-up concern for all who desire to abide under God’s control, purpose, and wisdom to discern our way.
The context of this admonition was at a time in Corinth much like what we’re witnessing today within our age of technological advances. Nations’ struggling for political control in parts of the globe where dominance to authoritarian governments cause so much heart-ache. Civil strife in parts of South America, the Far East, some African states, or dealing with terrorist organizations seeking world control.
Like the divisions that occurred in Corinth peoples around the world live as though they will not be accountable for their actions. The context on the opening verse does not refer to the future reign of our Savior, but for each of us today, under God’s authority; not to be inhibited, restrained, or influenced from the cultural influences.
God’s Kingdom for us today are demonstrated through His authoritative word, learning to be ‘doers of his word works best when you have it in your heart! cf: James 1:22-26. Recognize when he’s knocking at the door of your heart, listen for His Spiritual promptings. Our Lord will equip and lead us. Practice recognizing Him!
