Deuteronomy 6: 4-5
4. Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is ONE Lord:
5. AND THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THINE HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIGHT.
With how much of your might, how much of your heart? Read the commandment again.
God has to be first in your life, or He is not your God. First in marriage, first at work, first between you and friends, first between you and your enemies. Jesus will settle for nothing less than to be the ruler of your life. (Did your pastor ever tell you that? But he did tell you about “tithing”?)
If you don’t want it that way, then stop wasting your time and God’s time; go join the Luciferians and whoop it up. You can’t get far, actually, breaking the First Commandment – most probably, every day?
You think this is a game?
Matthew 10:37-39
37. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Mattew 13:44-46
44. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46. Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Jesus is the one that gave ALL to save you. Nevertheless, Jesus can settle for nothing less than to the ruler of our life. Why? Because that’s who He is. He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. If you don’t want Him, you don’t have to. You will automatically have the other one, and his name is Satan.
HERE is all of the first commandment in its entirety.
Deuteronomy 6: 4-5
4. Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is ONE Lord: 5. And thou shalt love the lord thy god with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.9. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Now what does all that mean?
Jesus said, “I and the Father are one”. The Holiest Trinity, also called God, is one in love, one in compassion and one in resolve. But not one in authority. Only the Father is greatest. (John 14:28, John 10:29). There is no one on that level beside the Father (1 Cor.15:27-28)
The “heart” is a symbol for our innermost being.
Our God is the greatest treasure and greatest happiness in existence. If you choose God, you will automatically love Him with all your might, in due time. Here the wording indicates a beginning intent, or priority of intent, to commence.
“These Words” are the words of God, the Bible if you please. At that time they were up to Deuteronomy, TODAY (this day) it is the entire Bible.
Now what are you to do with this Bible? First, you study and know and obey the Word of God; then you teach it to your entire family at every opportunity; then you share it with the public: “write it upon the posts of your house and your gates”.
Jesus is the one that gave all to save YOU. Nevertheless, Jesus will settle for nothing less than to be the ruler of our life. Why? Because that’s who He is. He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. If you don’t want Him, you don’t have to. You will automatically have the other one, whose name is Satan. Good luck, Kiddo.
What is intended by obedience? It is a matter of giving PRIORITY for the will and planning of God.
Why?
Primarily, to avoid harm to others and yourself, to avoid sin.
In trespasses, we can be forgiven if repentant, but the intent, the honest decision to attempt not to sin, must be in place. Otherwise God separates from man, and gradually Satan comes in. This is no game. Immense spiritual forces are involved.
There are some who might say that Deuteronomy was long ago, too long to be that important.. If that is so, then what is JESUS talking about in Mark 12:28-30?
28. And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30. AND THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART, AND WITH ALL THY SOUL, AND WITH ALL THY MIND, AND WITH ALL THY STRENGTH: this is the first commandment.
Dearest pilgrim, tired of seeing evil in this perishing world?
Turn directly to the Living God, who loves you, who suffered for you, and invite HIM to be the RULER of your life. Prey with me, if you want Him, “Dearest Lord Jesus, forgive me my sins, please be the ruler of my life. I reject all non-biblical religion. Help me to love you more every day and to obey you with all my strength and to read your bible daily, every day of my life."
If you do this, and mean it, with an open heart, this prayer will never fail. It will become the greatest thing you will ever have, and it will last forever. Even in this life it will be the greatest happiness you'll know, and a light upon your path. Conversely, to FAIL in this, it will be the GREATEST DISASTER you will ever have, both here and hereafter.
Something most especial is waiting for those who seek the infinite goodness of our Lord. God Himself said, that "The ear has not heard and no eye has ever seen, neither can man even imagine the HAPPINESS which God prepared for those who love him" (1 Cor. 2:9, paraphrased, if you please)!
