Genuine or an imposter
In our pursuit of holiness or a complete salvation, when can we be assured that we have been saved? What is the sign of completion as far as our spiritual journey is concerned?
When Peter asked Jesus for a complete cleansing, Jesus replied saying, He who is clean only needs to wash his feet, yet He also mentioned about the uncleanness of Judas Iscariot...
“Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.””
John 13:10-11 NKJV
Judas betrayed Jesus and killed himself, Peter denied Jesus, repented and the Lord made him one of the greatest Apostle the world has seen.
Was Jesus seeing their future and addressing them? Even though God knows our future, He speaks to us as we are.
Peter loved the Lord and was following Him wholeheartedly, yet when troubles and fear overcame his life, he denied Christ only later to repent and come back.
Judas loved the world more than God and his eyes were always on wealth, power and position and when he saw that Jesus is not aiming at these worldly accreditations, he thought it best to betray Christ and move ahead with life, only later to find the vanity of life without Christ and thus committing suicide.
Our sincere and genuine love for God determines our salvation, the pure intentions of our hearts determines the cleanliness within.
We may succeed in fooling almost everyone in the world, yet God tests the hearts and nothing can ever be hidden from Him.
Rightly did David pray and may this be our prayer too…
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10 NKJV
In this World there are those who love the Lord genuinely as was Peter and there are also those who are imposters as was Judas Iscariot, who are we like ? for that will determine how the Lord addresses us today.
God Bless,
Abraham
