TITLE: “JESUS CHRIST, SAVIOR AND TRUE FRIEND”
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK: John 15:13“Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (KJV)
Recently, I read a statement that said: “A true friend is always there to brighten your day”. This is a really touching and sweet saying. However, as I pondered this statement, I thought about the family and friends the Lord has blessed me with in my life. My family and friends show a caring and loving spirit towards me. But, they cannot “always” be with me through “every” trial. This special experience is reserved for God and God alone.
In the Book of Exodus, God gave the children of Israel a wilderness experience they never forgot. He wanted them to depend on Him and Him alone. Why? He is the Creator. The Israelites were chosen by God for His special purposes. This group of people would be used as the birth line for the Messiah…God’s Son. Besides, He knows that people cannot be everything for everybody. I am quite sure the world leaders have found this to be an impossible task too. I know we all love our family and friends. Nonetheless, as humans, we have limitations and frailties in life as to what we can and cannot do.
However, there is someone I know; who “sticks closer than a brother” and His name is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only One this world can truly acknowledge in the same breath as…Savior and True Friend. John 15:13 states, “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (KJV)What better Friend can a person ask for as they are facing trials or need a word of encouragement? The world would like to make a person think they are lone rangers, as he or she is facing difficult times. But, we are not alone, because the Lord is “Larger than life and in Charge”. He wants us to trust and depend on Him as the Answer to all of our life’s problems.
I Peter 3:12 states, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” Based upon this Scripture, the Lord affirms that He is “Always” there to brighten our day. He is our True Savior and Friend! Trust Him today!

SALVATION PRAYER: “My friend…Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ today? The choice is yours. If you are reading this devotional and you do not have a “personal relationship” with the Lord and you would like to know how to receive this free and precious gift. God wants every human that passes through this life to know there is hope through Jesus Christ. Therefore, Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. As a result, any person who wants to be reconciled with God; can kneel or stand right where they are and repeat this prayer: “Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I have not been living the life You want me to live. I can never live this type of life without Your help and strength. I am asking You Lord, to please forgive me for my sins. Lord Jesus, I believe that You paid the penalty for my sins on the cross and You have risen again. I am opening the door of my heart for You Lord Jesus to live and take control of my life. I surrender my mind, body, soul and spirit to You as my Lord and Savior. Lord, thank You for hearing my prayer and giving me the gift of eternal life. Amen!” After repeating this prayer, you are now part of the family of God. Jesus has made a special invitation and a promise to everyone that opens the door of his or her heart to Him. He states in Revelations 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” I pray that you will dine with Jesus today!
FOR GROWTH AND STRENGTH: (1) Begin to surround yourself with other believers in Jesus Christ. (2) Read your Bible and pray every day, so that you can get to know our Heavenly Father. (3) Find a local church, where the Word of God is being taught as the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and final authority of God. Praise God for your first step towards His Kingdom!
